The Story Behind “Los Perdidos”

“Los Perdidos” describes those who are lost—either literally or figuratively wandering without clear direction. Beyond its literal meaning, the phrase represents a deeper journey marked by uncertainty and the search for purpose. It highlights themes of companionship and the transformative strength of human connection, capturing the universal experience of feeling adrift and the vital role of having someone beside you for guidance and support.

This work honors the immigrants who were displaced or disappeared—those forced into hiding in the shadows of society or made to say goodbye to the people they loved. It speaks for the children, mothers, fathers, uncles, aunts, cousins, nephews, nieces, and grandparents whose lives were upended. It reflects on families torn apart and stories left forgotten beneath the veil of the U.S. flag
